Connecting Bollywood AB is a production house that offers line production services to Indian filmmakers in Scandinavia. Our aim is to welcome and connect the vast and diversified world of Indian cinema to the unexplored and unrivalled scenery of Scandinavia.
We have a team of passionate and immensely dedicated people working for us. The company’s board consists of its founding member Mr. Mirza Askari, Mr. Stefan Olsson (Marketing Head) and Mr. Rahul Venkatram. Coordinating our marketing activities (and pretty much everything else) is Mr Magnus Björkenstam.
The Founder
Mr. Mirza Askari, the founder of Connecting Bollywood AB, is not new to the world of movies and especially Bollywood. Having grown up in the suburbs of Mumbai, the cultural capital and more importantly the birthplace of Bollywood, he wasn't a stranger to this world. In addition to this, being related to Abbas Ali Mugal - one of the foremost action directors in Bollywood, he knew the in and out of the industry and it's ways of working at a very early age.
Vast network
Mirza has established a vast network that stretches beyond Bollywood, to the southern parts of India which has it's own flavour of film industries. Though he has spent his last 20 years living in Sweden, he never missed an opportunity to visit a shoot or a movie promotion either in India or in Europe. He has travelled and lived with the film crew during shoots and knows the nitty gritties of shooting away from home.
Passionate and dedicated team
His fluency in speaking Swedish, Danish, Hindi, Urdu, Persian and English only adds to his unique personality. He has travelled extensively across the length and breath of Scandinavia and knows the right location for any project. He is well connected to the film chamber and the entertainment industry in Sweden and the rest of Scandinavia. He is passionate and immensely dedicated to his work and works with a team of enthusiastic people who support him during his projects.
Scrub the myths
The inception of this dream project took place when he was in Mumbai, India, attending a film shoot and it struck him that Scandinavia was still a virgin destination to the Bollywood fraternity. Curiosity led him to enquire why this was so, and the answer was unanimous - Scandinavia is cold, dark and very expensive to suit the needs of an Indian movie. Having lived in Sweden for more than 20 years he knew better than anyone else there - that these were just myths. It was similar to how the west associated India back in the days - snakes and elephants!
Shoot at heaven
Hence was born Connecting Bollywood. To welcome and to connect the world of Bollywood to the unexplored and unrivalled scenery of Scandinavia - from it's fjords and mountains to it's coasts and islands. From it's arctics to it's archipelagoes. With it's breathtaking natural surroundings, it's unique culture and refined lifestyle - this was heaven replicated for mortals.
